Race Day Details
What is the route for the race?
Is this 5K a competitive race?
This is a "Fun Run/Walk/Roll". Basically, everyone is invited to participate in whatever way they see fit. You can run, jog, walk, crawl, rollerblade, or skip your way to the finish line. Heck, if you think you can walk a 5K on your hands, we invite you to try! Strollers of all kinds are allowed on the course.
Due to various ordinances skateboards and jetpacks are not allowed, and for the safety of all participants, we ask that you do not ride a bike on the course.
If you want to avoid the registration lines on Saturday morning, you are invited to pick up your race packet at the Crosby YMCA in Winter Park on Friday, March 16 between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
Will there be official timing, rankings, and awards in each age/gender group?
This is a charity event, and we want to see every penny possible go to support Building Homes for Heroes and Lone Sailor Memorial Project. In the past, we have elected to forgo an expensive transponder-based timing system, and we plan to do the same this year. There will be timing clocks positioned at the Start/Finish line and timing officials stationed at various locations along the course to help you keep track of your time.
What are the plans for inclement weather?
So long as the weather does not pose a significant safety risk (lightning, hurricane, etc.), the event will take place as scheduled - Rain or Shine!
Registration and Fees
What is the deadline for Early Registration? How do I register at the race?
Early Registration will end at 11:59pm on Sunday, March 11 (subject to change). If you have not registered by this time, you may still register at the race.
Day-of-race registration will open at 7:00am at Lake Baldwin. You may pay by cash, check or credit/debit card at the race. Please see the fees table in the question below to see the different fees for early/day-of registrations.
What are the fees to register for the Building Homes for Heroes / Lone Sailor 5K?
Registration Fees Early Registration Day of Race Adult $25 $40 Military Member $17 $25 Child (9-16) $12 $20 Group Member $20 Early Registration Only Please note that there will be limited quantities of race t-shirts available for those who register on the day of the race. While the t-shirt order is due before the end of early registration, we will do our best to ensure that everyone who registers early receives a t-shirt. We'll also be doing our best to ensure you get the size you requested, but there are no guarantees - we'll at least try to come close.
